About the Project:
The homeowners asked us to create a backyard space to enjoy in their retirement, and to encourage their grown kids to come back home for family gatherings.
The rectangular pool features corner steps to maximize the amount of swimming space, as the homeowners like to swim laps in the morning. A feature wall with a sheer descent wraps two sides of the pool, buffering noise from neighbours and replacing it with the calming sound of water.
Techo-Bloc Travertina Raw stone on the patio and retaining wall gives a natural yet modern feel to the pool area.
Lush plants and slim trees create privacy and the feel of a secluded retreat in this urban landscape.
A pavilion shade structure extends from the back of the house; Azek PVC decking with integrated landscape lighting create a dedicated area for grilling, dining, and lounging no matter the weather. As the homeowners age, railings can be easily added to deck and steps to provide additional safety and ease mobility issues.
The cabana at the side of the yard is wrapped in tongue and groove clear cedar inside and outside. The cabana provides storage for pool equipment and accessories. The attached outdoor shower and change room makes it easy for guests to feel at home, and to rinse off and change after a day of fun in the sun.
Landscape lighting accents lush plantings and illuminates the landscape so the fun doesn’t stop when the sun sets.
This backyard is built for aging in place and hosting a crowd will surely keep the children and their families coming back to the nest for years to come.
